Not Empty
Shadows. Things aren't empty... they're full of light games with darkness.
Of waves receding and coming on.
Things aren't empty,
But the illusion of emptiness is there.
Painful. A serrated edge,
Receding and coming on.
Float above the illusion,
See the fullness of this creation.
Read between the lines, receding and coming on.
Of waves receding and coming on.
Things aren't empty,
But the illusion of emptiness is there.
Painful. A serrated edge,
Receding and coming on.
Float above the illusion,
See the fullness of this creation.
Read between the lines, receding and coming on.
Meditation
In the end,
The truth prevails,
All pretense falls away,
Our vision clears,
Our words align,
This mind is here to stay.
The truth prevails,
All pretense falls away,
Our vision clears,
Our words align,
This mind is here to stay.
Clarity
When your ideas have come back full circle,
You know you're right -
The opposite of what they've told you,
Just don't despair,
Another day is dawning,
Another sun,
Another turn,
Another chance at being.
You know you're right -
The opposite of what they've told you,
Just don't despair,
Another day is dawning,
Another sun,
Another turn,
Another chance at being.
Emptiness
I fear emptiness most of all,
The kind where there's no love,
The kind where there's no laughter,
The kind where there's no growth,
No possibility of danger,
Watch life pass you by,
While others are living -
But you can start over
By forgiving.
The kind where there's no love,
The kind where there's no laughter,
The kind where there's no growth,
No possibility of danger,
Watch life pass you by,
While others are living -
But you can start over
By forgiving.
The Goal
Pushing forward so hard,
Nothing will stop me now,
I will never surrender,
Will make it there somehow,
Intellectual freedom,
Philosophical control,
Tune in, Tune out,
Do it for your soul
Nothing will stop me now,
I will never surrender,
Will make it there somehow,
Intellectual freedom,
Philosophical control,
Tune in, Tune out,
Do it for your soul
Attachment
Attachment is pain,
I've learned it again,
So tired of things
That I must regain.
Have it all, my friend,
I have no need
For possessions that further
Develop my greed.
I've learned it again,
So tired of things
That I must regain.
Have it all, my friend,
I have no need
For possessions that further
Develop my greed.
Poetry Event
05/02/2017
Last month, I read some of my poetry at a local poetry gathering here in London, which included featured poets and open-mic poets. Here is the full album with all participatants. The event happens every first Wednesday of the month, at the awesomely-decorated, as well as amazingly delicious, Mykono's Restaurant.

POEMS I READ
SANCTUARY
The glowing space around you,
Its secret curves and angles,
Is what your heart desires
As your mind is untangled.
And light and darkness dancing
The gods themselves, they told me
That nowhere else shall I so well
Untie me and unfold me.
---
NEW LIFE
Among corn fields and frog ponds
My new home lies
Among evergreens and fresh air
And vast blue skies
Among horse farms and pastures
As the earth sighs
Among hundreds of stars
My old life dies
----
NEW MIND
The world may say I lost my mind
But I had finally found it
I'm a reflection of my kind
There is no way around it
A racing mind that longs for rain
The darkness softly causes pain
But light numbs movement in my veins.....
I want to tap into that flow
Of dark and light and muddy glow
That energetic life source gaze
That's given me my current face
That energy that makes me race
Toward the next experience...

As I dug through my photos recently, I came across this image of the first time ever that I read poetry at the event, back in 2014, when I decided to come out and bare my soul to strangers as practice for singing in front of people. It was a sort of strengthening exercise...and it works. When in a comforting, welcoming environment, it's easy to leave your stage fright behind and focus on the art...
Finally, here is a video of me reading my poetry from a later 2014 event.
POEMS I READ
And I will leave you with this spoken word track I created for one of my poems, called Dark Battle, written about mental illness and extreme sensitivity and intuitiveness that may make life a little more abrasive than it may feel for others.
The poetry events are certainly therapeutic, cathartic, and enjoyable. They remind us that it's OK to be who we are...that there are those out there who might even like that sort of thing ;).
